With the good snow cover this winter and the rain we have had in the last couple of weeks (and more to come next week), the Chain level is up and the fishermen and boaters are out. The weather is our typical May 15-June 15 weather . . . one day it is 60-70 and the next it could only be 40. The night have remained cool. But -- have heart, SUMMER WILL COME SOON! It was a long winter this year and it is so nice to see the trees and spring flowers blossom out. The "shoot 'em up" gang has been in town since Tuesday the 23rd. They have been creating a lot of excitement and lots of fans arrive to see what is going on. We are not able to see much as the security to Little Bohemia is very tight. Most of the shooting has been at night beginning about 6 p.m. and lasting until 4 or 6 a.m. Lots of bright lights, machine gun shooting and noise. The filming was supposed to end on Thursday or Friday the 25th, but they are not going to finish evidently until sometime this week. Actually as much as the excitement has been fun, those of us who really love our Little Bohemia for its ambiance and great food are anxious to have it back! Several locals have been extras in the film (including one of our agents) and have put in LONG nights sitting around waiting to be used. (see photo of the group in costume) On another note -- the lakes are opening up and we hope they will open by this weekend for opening fishing. There is still a lot of ice, but rain is predicted for the next few days and that should help. Otherwide, the fishermen will be fishing along the edges admist "icebergs". The robins are back so spring cannot be too far away. For those of you looking for real estate, we have some great new listings on the market, and more coming up. Today we have a 50% chance of snow, tommorrow a 90% chance and Sat. a 60% chance! The good news is that next week it will be warming up into the 50's and we should be getting rain . If that happens, the snow will go quickly. I know a lot of Buyers are eager to get up here without the snow on the ground so they can see what the property and waterfront looks like. Don't fret, it will come soon. The crews are very busy at Little Bohemia getting ready to start filming.  Rumor has it that Johnny Depp will be here on the 17th. They have brought in about 30 Big Pines on stands to be able to move them around to create a "woods" whereever they need one. It is amazing the detail that goes into making a movie. False walls have been built with explosive charges for the shooting scenes (enough for 3 takes I'm told). Many of the windows have been removed and replaced with windows they can "shoot up" or dive through. Those windows do not look new, but look just as the original ones looked - without the bullet holes. Don't worry you Dillenger buffs . . . the original "shot up" windows have been carefully stored away and will be put back after the filming is done. I'll keep you posted on the progress whenever I get any new information about the movie.

We have officially added John Michael Montgomery to our Music Fest Roster. Things are shaping up for a super event. Don't miss it! The excitement around town is the upcoming movie "Public Enemies" starring Johnny Depp. Presently Little Bohemia is being worked on by the movie crew, changing the building into what it was during the Dillinger days. It has been fun watching the crews making changes. The restaurant will be closed soon for the final changes and the filming will probably begin sometime near the end of April. All this action has made our normally very quiet April quite exciting and everyone is anxiously awaiting the "reel" action with the stars. Aside from being one of the great eating places we have in this Northwoods, Little Bohemia will now be even more famous after this movie is done.

We have added two new names for our summer Music Fest. In addition to RANDY TRAVIS, we have signed up LORRIE MORGAN and DARRYL WORLEY. We hope to also get JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY, but as yet have not had confirmation. It is shaping up to be a very good show! I hope that you will consider coming up to Manitowish Waters to see it. Remember Friday night he 25th we will have a band entertaining from about 8 to midnight. Saturday the 26th will be an all day affair. Dry camping on the Airport grounds is available for you who like to trailer or tent your accommodations along!

Hi All -- Today is the first day of Spring . . . a long awaited day. It has been a long, cold winter and everyone has looked forward to seeing the snow melt and the trees start to bud. We still have a lot of snow on the ground, but with the warmer, sunny days we have been having, it should soon start to go. With the good snow cover, the ground has not frozen and the snow should quickly sink into the ground. A good thing for our beautiful chain of lakes. Spring fever must be hitting the south part of Wisconsin and Illinois, as we are getting more phone calls regarding property. Manitowish Waters will be having their 21nd annual Music Fest at the Airport on July 25th this year. We will also have entertainment Friday night. We have signed up RANDY TRAVIS so far and are working on 4-5 additional acts. Be sure to get your tickets early. As soon as we have the poster done and finalized, I will post it on this site.
