Manitowish Waters is famous for it's chain of 10 pristine lakes with 4,265 acres of water to navigate. Manitowish Waters is more vibrant than ever! There is always something exciting to do or see. Whether it is taking a leisure boat ride, watersports, fishing, hiking, bird watching or biking. Winter activities include snowmobiling, cross country and down hill skiing. If you are in the area don't miss our July 4th Parade. It is the greatest and everyone comes to see it . . . many tailgate and make it a real event. Stop by the Schmidt-haus Office. We have a large group of viewers enjoying the parade and party. The 2nd Annual Music Fest will be held at the Airport grounds in July 0f 2008. It is the people that make Manitowish Waters special. They are always there to help a friend in need and welcome newcomers and visitors to the town.
Manitowish Waters has many amenities including a community center where you'll find playgrounds, basketball, paddleball courts & tennis courts. We have beaches and picnic areas located on Little Star Lake and Rest Lake. There's the MW Volunteer Fire Department, Frank B. Koller Memorial Library, Post Office, Churches and an Airport Terminal. For boat rentals, gas, food, and boat launch, there's Greer's Pier Marina on Spider Lake in the middle of the chain. We have several area public golf courses - Timber Ridge in Minocqua, Trout Lake Golf Course on Hwy. 51 a few miles South, Sayner Golf Course, Tahoe Course in Mercer. Our town is noted for its wonderful restaurants located both on and off water. Make sure you stop and have a drink and dinner at "Little Bohemia" on Little Star Lake, famous for the Dillenger and FBI shoot out. The movie "Public Enemies" starring Johnny Depp is filming at Little Bohemia in April of 2008. We have many shops, galleries and other services.
